Brenda K is President of My Retreat Design, and the company's Interior Designer.  She is committed to creating and offering unique, affordable home decor and custom furniture designs along with professional interior design solutions. Brenda has been involved in the interior design and furnishings profession for over 25 years in Appleton, Wisconsin and has a loyal regional following. Besides serving as an interior designer for homes and small businesses, her background includes having excelled at positions as furniture buyer for a major multiple-store furniture retailer, as showroom designer, buyer and general manager for home furnishings operations including her own(the original Cottage Chic home furnishings, etc.), and having represented national and regional firms in contract and commercial sales of furnishings and materials, consistently earning top company honors. Her greatest desire and satisfaction, though, is to work with individual residential clients to create the warm, comfortable, happy "retreats" from the stresses of the world out there for which we all dream.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVID,  who went home to be with Jesus on July 4, 2016. Below is a short bio that has been on our website since we started My Retreat Design, and will remain as long as we are in business.

David is not only Brenda's husband and the love of her life, but he is her biggest fan and inspiration. Along with assisting in day-to-day operations of My Retreat Design, he is commited to building unique, functional quality custom furniture and accent pieces based on Brenda's designs and the specifications of their customers.  His work is a labor of love, pride, and dedication to excellence. David is retired from a lifetime of achievement in the field of aeronautics.  His expertise and scrutinizing attention to detail led him to the position of Manager of Quality Control with KC Aviation's Appleton facility, having held the responsibility for up to 20 inspectors of jet aircraft completions and maintenance performed by over 300 technicians, and for compliance with regulations of the FAA in the US and the CAA of numerous foreign countries. He developed inspection and burn testing procedures that were respected throughout the aviation industry, and authored repair station manuals, all approved by the FAA. David served as an authorized DAR(Designated Airworthiness Representative) for the FAA while with Gulfstream Aerospace in Appleton prior to retiring.  As a young aviator, he built experimental aircraft as a hobby.  He was a licensed pilot, having accumulated over 4,000 hours of flying time.  It was an easy transition for David from aircraft to furniture 14 years ago, and he has been enjoying it ever since.
